Welcome back everyone, to another day of relaxation with “Take a Break: Volume 13!” This week’s lineup includes tracks from the likes of Papadosio, Brenton Mattheus, Low, Atlas Genius, and STRFKR. It’s a very indie-heavy one this week so put your hipster hats on, sit down in a nice comfy chair, and let’s have a listen! (Now take your hipster hats off… That’s just not cool).
Papadosio
This track is actually just an improvisation from a live set Papadosio did in New York recently. It’s an awesome recording though, and I’m glad they featured it on SoundCloud. There’s some awesome piano and guitar solos throughout the set. You can even hear the people cheering for them in the background! This must have been a fantastic show! Wish I could have been there!

Brenton Mattheus
To say Brenton Mattheus has the voice of an angel may actually be an understatement. Ever since I heard him featured in a Mikal Minhas mix, I’ve been in love with his silky smooth voice. It’s got the perfect tone and timbre for electronic and indie music alike. This cover of SHM’s “Don’t You Worry Child” is one of the most beautiful covers I’ve heard of this track.

Low
Here’s the latest from the group Low. “Just Make It Stop” is the debut single for this band’s new album The Invisible Way which is due for release on March 19th (March 18th in U.K. and Europe) via Sub Pop Records. I’m really digging the progressive piano in this track, and while the accompaniment is a bit repetitive, it still has a very nice sound overall. I’m looking forward to hearing the rest of the album!

Atlas Genius
Atlas Genius’ new track “If So” is in the same genre, indie rock, but this one is a bit more upbeat than the last track. Don’t get me wrong, it’s very relaxing and easy to listen to, but it definitely has a bit of excitement and energy to it that can’t be overlooked! This track is off the group’s debut record “When It Was Now” which is currently available on iTunes!

STRFKR
Last, but certainly not least, here is “Atlantis” by the well-known and loved STRFKR (Starfucker). With a sound that can only be described as indie-pop, “Atlantis” is a beautifully crafted work of art featuring minimalist rhythms accompanied by spacey, atmospheric instrumentals and rich, smooth vocals. I’m really loving this track right now! Take a listen below.
